Your Rights, our Future
As youth unemployment reaches historic levels and living costs continue to climb, Ontario’s young workers are being funnelled into a labour market that prioritizes risk and productivity over young people's fundamental right to work in safe, secure, and sustainable jobs. Our public education system should play a key role in ensuring that young folks are equipped with practical skills to advocate for themselves and their peers in the workplace.
Embedding comprehensive employment rights education into Ontario’s secondary school curriculum would help young people recognize unsafe practices, advocate for fair treatment, and make informed choices about their future careers. By preparing students with this knowledge before they enter the labour market, public schools can play a vital role in reducing exploitation and building a culture of decent work for the next generation. Join our campaign to call on the Ministry of Education to embed Know Your Rights in the Workplace training into mandatory curriculum offerings for all secondary school students in Ontario!
